लीडरशिप सोने का ताज नहीं होता, यह कांटों का ताज होता है – 

अक्सर लोग लीडरशिप को केवल सम्मान, शक्ति और सुविधाओं से जोड़कर देखते हैं। उन्हें लगता है कि एक लीडर के सिर पर सोने का ताज होता है – जो उसे विशेष बना देता है। लेकिन सच्चाई इससे बिल्कुल अलग है। असली लीडरशिप सोने का ताज नहीं, कांटों का ताज होती है। यह ताज चकाचौंध नहीं, बल्कि त्याग, जिम्मेदारी, बलिदान और दर्द का प्रतीक होता है।

एक लीडर वो नहीं होता जो सिर्फ आदेश देता है, बल्कि वो होता है जो सबसे आगे चलकर टीम को दिशा दिखाता है। जब मुश्किल आती है तो वह खुद ढाल बनता है। जब गलती होती है तो वह जिम्मेदारी लेता है, और जब सफलता मिलती है तो श्रेय अपनी टीम को देता है। लीडरशिप का यह बोझ बाहर से नहीं दिखता, पर यह अंदर से लगातार चुभता है – ठीक उसी तरह जैसे कांटों का ताज।

एक सच्चे लीडर को मानसिक रूप से बेहद मजबूत होना पड़ता है। उसे आलोचना झेलनी पड़ती है, कई बार अपनों से धोखा भी खाना पड़ता है। फिर भी वह डगमगाता नहीं। वह अपने विजन पर अडिग रहता है, क्योंकि उसे मालूम होता है कि उसकी जिम्मेदारी सिर्फ खुद तक सीमित नहीं है – वह दूसरों के जीवन को आकार देने वाला है।

लीडरशिप की राह में अकेलापन भी एक कड़वा सच है। लोग लीडर से उम्मीद करते हैं कि वह सुनें, समझें और प्रेरित करें – पर बहुत कम लोग लीडर को समझते हैं। एक लीडर अक्सर अकेले अपने सपनों और मिशन की राह पर चलता है। लोग उसके संघर्ष नहीं देखते, सिर्फ उसकी चमक देखना पसंद करते हैं।

एक सच्चा लीडर हमेशा लोकप्रिय बनने की कोशिश नहीं करता। वह वह करता है जो सही है, चाहे लोग उसे पसंद करें या न करें। वह कठिन फैसले लेता है, क्योंकि वह भविष्य की तस्वीर देख पाता है। वह टीम को उनकी सीमाओं से आगे ले जाता है – क्योंकि वह उनमें छुपी महानता को पहचानता है।

कांटों का ताज पीड़ा देता है, लेकिन वही पीड़ा लीडर को निखारती है। जैसे बीज टूटकर वृक्ष बनता है, वैसे ही एक लीडर संघर्षों से परिपक्व बनता है। असफलताएं, आलोचनाएं और जिम्मेदारियां उसे मजबूत बनाती हैं। वह ताज गर्व से नहीं, विनम्रता से पहनता है।
